Near Infrared and Visible Photograph of UC Davis Scene

This image in the near infrared (800-1200 nanometers) shows how green living matter (plants, grass) reflects near infrared light very efficiently therefore looking very bright. The purple cast is an artifact of the filter placed on the camera to block out all visible light. This image was taken with a digital camera that did not have the standard infrared blocking filter.
