Post-Doctoral positions in Single Molecule BioNanoPhotonics

The IBEC – Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia is a centre based in the Barcelona Science Park, devoted to the research and education in the biomedical field.

The BioNanoPhotonics group at the IBEC is currently offering a post-doctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young physicist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in the field of Single Molecule Detection for the study of biological processes in living cells.

The candidate will work on the development and application of advanced optical tools, including super resolution fluorescence microscopy (SR-PALM, NSOM) and dual-colour single particle tracking (SPT). Topics on Biology will concentrate around the dynamic and transient nano-landscape organization of cell membrane receptors of the immune system. The research will be performed in the framework of European partnerships and will offer opportunities for short/middle-term stays in partner’s institutions. The fellowship is offered for a period of two years. Competitive salaries and working conditions will be offered, depending on candidates’ profiles.

Requirements:

Candidates must hold a PhD in physics or biophysics, with a strong optical instrumentation background and a keen interest in developing novel methods at the interface between the Physical and Life Sciences. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in single-molecule detection techniques, including software development for data acquisition and analysis.
