Position Description: Post-doc position at CBST for the project: Rapid and Sensitive Biodetection of Tumor Cells in Blood
We are seeking applicants for a post-doc position starting immediately to work on a project that involves the rapid and sensitive biodetection of tumor cells in blood. For the detection aspect of this project, the ideal candidate would have experience constructing optical systems with some experience with optical design software such as Code V or Zemax, and is comfortable programming in languages such as MATLAB and LabVIEW. Experience with optical scattering theory is desired, but not required. Some practical knowledge of biological methods (ex. cell culture) would be a plus.
This candidate may also work with our collaborator at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories on another aspect of our project, which is to develop an acoustic device to enrich for circulating tumor cells from blood samples of cancer patients. Strengths in device fabrication and testing would be useful but not necessary.
