BP4L Webinar: Trapping Takes Hold in Biophotonics

St. Andrews, Scotland, United Kingdom

Dates:

Mon Dec 13 16:00:00 UTC 2010 to Mon Dec 13 17:00:00 UTC 2010
(local time based on your computer's time zone)

Kishan Dholakia, PhD

The field of optical trapping is now 40 years old but offers exquisite and unprecedented abilities in biophotonics for precise measurements on macromolecules and cells. An overview of this field with relevant examples will be presented and will include the use of novel beam shaping with applications in biophotonics.

SPEAKER

Dr. Dholakia is Professor of Physics at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and an Honorary Adjunct Professor at the Center for Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona, USA. He heads a large group working on various aspects of photonics including micromanipulation and biophotonics. He has published over 300 journal/conference papers and his group won the European Optics Prize in 2003. He was elected to the position of Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2007 and in 2008 was elected to position of Fellow of the Optical Society of America and received a Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award.

ACCESS

To get access to the webinar (live and recorded), you must become a member of BiophotonicsWorld. Membership is free and open to faculty, physicians, residents, students, researchers, educators, industry, and others interested in biophotonics and its applications.
